Sonja Peteranderl is a journalist and founder of BuzzingCities Lab, a think tank that focuses on the impact of technology on violence and crime, and the School of Conflict & Peace. She reports on organized crime, urban violence, digital violence, security/police and tech trends from predictive policing to criminal innovations for media such as ARD team recherche, Der Spiegel or Journalist magazine. She has worked as Latin America correspondent, foreign editor and tech editor for DER SPIEGEL, was senior editor at WIRED Germany magazine and has reported as a foreign correspondent and reporter from Latin America, the USA and China. As an Algorithmic Accountability Reporting Fellow at AlgorithmWatch, she investigated the impact of algorithms on policing and justice; as a Publix Tech Fellow she currently focuses on AI ethics.
